Swede’s

This will be the first time that I have grown Swede’s, so I will be growing three types.  Magres, Tweed and I don’t know the name of the third, they are from Peter on the lottie.  I noticed that the ones on his lottie were the size of small footballs and he would be giving me some seed for next year to try out, but did not know the name.

According to the packet they should be sown mid May to mid June 1cm (1/2in) deep in drills 38cm (15in) apart, thinning seedlings in each drill to 15cm (6in) apart, but as I have the room I will give them a spacing of 1ft to allow them to develop.  It says that these should be sown direct and not transplanted, but every one I speak to says that they always transplant theirs after first growing them in modules.  As they say, “the proofs in the cooking”.
